Seeking Eric Jensen

Help! Does anyone have any idea what happened to Eric Jensen? Here's my story: About 10 years ago I went to Eric Jensen's home/workshop in Seattle, where he makes electric bowed instruments, and ordered a cello. Six months later it arrived on my doorstep and proved to be an audio as well as a visual delight.

That was easy. The difficult part is that in October 2005 I ordered a cello performance stand that Jensen also makes, on which I would be able to play my cello while standing up. Along with the order, I enclosed for full payment a $220 check that was cashed in less than a month. Now, more than a year later, I still have received no performance stand AND no communication from Jensen. Though his Web site is still up and seems to receive e-mail, no response has come to the 5 or 6 e-mails that I've sent there. Similarly, I've received no response to several phone messages that I've left in his voice mail. Most recently, however, it's no longer possible to leave phone messages; that is, the phone just rings until I get tired of listening to it and hang up.

So what's going on remains a big mystery to me. Is Jensen seriously ill, did he encounter foul play, is he trying to avoid someone or something? Who knows? Anyone out there?

Also Seeking Eric Jensen - In Court

Alas, your story is not unique. I, too, have lost a large amount of money to Eric Jensen. After trying for 7 months to reach him, I saw the writing on the wall and figured I'd never see either a cello or my $2,000 again. According to the BBB, he is out of business and I am attempting to pursue legal action. You can read more on my blog here.

Also, I want to get the word our that he is out of business yet apparently continues to take peoples money. I've registered www.jensenmusicalinstruments.com and posted all the details of my situation there.

Like you, I first thought something bad had happened to Mr. Jensen, and maybe something has. Why would someone rip off such a small group of artists? Word gets around and that's what I'm trying to do. But that he continues to take money and not return calls in inexcusable.

Hope this helps.

Let's sue this guy!

Dear All

I paid Eric Jensen 4460 Dollars up front for an electric cello. November 2005. All payments were neatly confirmed, even with a statement for tax purposes.

No cello.

He phoned me about 3 months ago. He unfortunately dialed my swiss number instead of the number of some west coast resort in California. I asked him where the cello was and of course everything was been done with professional care and artistic perfection.

I sent a mail to all cello societies I know. Let's get together everybody that pay his holidays and sue!

With kind regards

E Jensen suggestion

GPE and CS:

A few weeks ago I sent a complaint re Eric Jensen to the Seattle TV channel KOMO via its Web site www.komotv.com where you can click on the phrase "Problem Solvers" and follow the directions. (A reporter friend of mine told me about the channel.) So far no one has responded, but I think that if you both augment my complaint with yours, there's a good chance that KOMO will shine the embarrassing light of publicity on Jensen and get results. Would you like to try that?

If that's not enough, we could send a complaint to the Washington state attorney general that could lead to criminal charges in addition to what you (GPE) are working toward (that is, getting your lawyer to sue in a civil court, if I understand things correctly after following several of your links).

Thanks to both of you for responding to my first post!
