purchasing cheap electric cello

I would like to buy an electric cello, starting at the cheaper end. Are the really cheap cellos like the ceclio range horrible, or just not great?

I live in Australia, currently travelling in US, keen to see some of the electric cellos in the flesh.

Purchasing Cheap Electric Cellos

Dear Liana
I hope that you try various e-cellos when you visit the US. I build electric cellos and (because of the labor) these are priced at $3500. however, if you visit my shop in Virginia (one hour south of Washington DC) I can sell you a nice e-cello for $1000.
By the way, I am very interested to find out the price point where people are willing to buy electric cellos. If I dont have to finish the surface (nitro cellulose finish, many coatings and hand sandings etc) and worry about appearances I could probably sell high quality wearable e-cellos with good sound and built in electronics as a kit (user can do final sanding of the beautiful hardwood body and add furniture polish or whatever) for $1000 (for example). I am building electric upright basses now because so few cellists seem willing to buy electric cellos. It seems that most people in this field are infatuated with the 500 year old technology (which is very good, I am not complaining)....................

Australian electric cellos

Hey Liana.

After looking at the web I want very much to try one of those Epoch cellos made in Australia. Really pretty things, but not cheap. Have you tried one?
