Is anybody out there?

Just thought I'd try to find out how many people are active on the forum on this website. I've just started playing my acoustic cello with a jam group a year ago, and am now starting to feel the need to talk to other cellists for support and help.

So, should I spend my time here, or will it be (close to) futile? Is there another active forum that everyone has gone to that I need to know about?

This New Directions forum is generally kinda quiet, though there are some new plans in the works that may help set it on fire, namely a new electronic newsletter, which will replace the printed one that has been published twice a year since the early nineties. (info on it will be coming soon on this site)

This site: http://cellofun.yuku.com/forums/1/t/Cello-Chat.html "cello chat" - is the most active online cello forum that I am aware of.

If it's possible for you, attend the New Directions fest this coming June - it is all about jam groups and learning new stuff. Known to be life-changing for many cellists - plus it is a WHOLE lot of fun. Every level of player shows up there - from rank beginner to advanced; it's a very supportive, relaxed and super friendly environment.

Anybody out there -

The Festival is a whole LOT of fun, underlined and exclamation points. And life changing, too, I admit that one. I just bought my ticket for my fifth festival in a row.

If you are already doing this kind of thing, this is probably a family you didn't know you had - it was for me. I know it sounds overboard, but the people, the jams, the classes, the visiting artists are all amazing.

I haven't been to the Fest yet.
but i do plan on doing so.
